A physiatrist (medical specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation) is a physician specializing in treatment and rehabilitation of disorders of the muscle, nerves, and joints. The Physiatrist’s diagnostic ability and dedication to maximizing the patient’s recovery through state of the art rehabilitation techniques is unique in medicine today.
The founding physicians of the Physiatry Medical Group were among the pioneers in the national development of non-operative musculoskeletal care. As the practice has grown, we have added physiatrists with exceptional qualifications who are committed to continuing medical education and academic developments that keep us at the forefront of musculoskeletal medicine.
All of our physicians are board certified. This means that all the physicians earned MD degrees and then went on for a minimum of 3 years of residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following this they sat for a rigorous written exam and an oral examination that was administered and graded by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Each one of the physicians then underwent additional training in neurophysiology and the performance of electro-diagnostic studies. Additionally, they underwent post-graduate training in spinal injections, acupuncture and spinal diagnostics.
